How could you not love Ms Carla… the name given to this lovely Craftsman home… It was literally love at first walk thru as I happened upon this home that had unfortunately gone many years without paint or seemingly any type of maintenance.
Yet there was something REGAL about Ms Carla… she somehow still had the aura and swagger despite being nearly 100 years old! I knew she would be special…
Here is what the rest of Ms Carla looked like the day we first did our walk through!
Unfortunately, we don’t have as many before photos as we would like to fully convey how far Ms Carla has come but I think these few give you an idea of how bad off she was!
Our design theme with Ms Carla was to keep all of her original aesthetics in place while making a few minor enhancements to bring her into the 21st century! The first of which was to open the living & dining room to the soon to be gourmet kitchen to create a more open & flowing feel. We also had to re-arrange the orientation of the hallway, redesign the Master Bathroom and secondary bathroom and save the imploding garage and rotten deck if possible… Quite the task to put it lightly but the entire team at HVH was 100% on board!

Amazing right… quite the transformation, don’t you agree? In fact, this home was SOLD without the initial buyer never even walking through the home! They simply walked around the home, looked in the windows and made an Above Asking Price Offer! (The floors were drying so we had to hold off showings until they were completely dry!)
Whether it was the reclaimed wood countertop on the island, the arabesque styled backsplash or the 100 year old reclaimed cedar beams in the living and dining, Ms Carla was now better than ever! She was beaming again…
Ms Carla is a classic example of what the Houston Vintage Homes team can do when given full reign to design and renovate a Craftsman Bungalow without it costing you a fortune!
